We are excited to be the Grand prize Sponsor of the 1st Bellies to Babies Celebration on May 3, 2009 at the Croation Cultural Centre here in Vancouver, BC. As we know many of our customers are not able to attend and enter to win the $1000 shopping spree from Style Kid, however, we are happy to report that we are having the BIGGEST Baby sale in the history of Style Kid! I hope that by now you know that Style Kid has the coolest Baby Registry ever, but if not, check it out here! To kick off the big, bad, sale, here are some of the must haves for all mom and dad’s!
1. A Diaper Bag – Get a bag that both parents will utilize and get something that works for your lifestyle! If you are the type that has never carried a bag or purse or usually has a small one, do the same with your diaper bag, trust me 2 kids later, i never used 75% of the junk I carried in the diaper bag anyways! But, if you are the type that likes to have a little bit of everything when they leave the house, opt for a larger bag! Our best selling diaper bag is the JJ Cole System Bag
A nice option for a small style bag, is the Skip*Hop Saddle Bag or the JJ Cole Tactic Both are available in multiple colours and are less than $40!
2. Baby Basics (this includes, towels, facecloths, receiving blankets, etc.) – There are a lot of options, but going with quality is worth it, especially if you are having more than one child, you will use it all again! Quality doesn’t necessarily mean spending $75 on a hooded towel, but the ones that are $10 and less are usually very thin and not very absorbent. Have 2-3 really nice ones that will work and last, generally a good hooded towel will cost between $25-$35. I love these from Babylicious
There are a million and one receiveing blankets (aka swaddling blankets), but the most important thing about a receiving blanket is size. Too big gives too much excess fabric, but too small and you can’t swaddle propperly! Look for a minimum of 28″ x 28″ but ideally 30″-34″ works best! Have at least 6 on hand so you aren’t doing laundry 5 times a day! We love the Babylicious Blankets for the design, size, feel and price!
3. Feeding Supplies – Regardless of wether you are bottle or breast feeding, there are some basics that you will need for either method! I am a huge fan of the Bermuda Babies Nursing Covers for breast-feeding. They are good looking but more importantly they are functional in giving you and baby any privacy you may want while nursing. Available in multiple fabric options and colours, it is a must!
Bibs, Bibs and more bibs! We have many different bibs and quite honestly they all rock! But they all have different features and benefits along with price points! My go to bib always seems to be the Built NY Comfy and Tidy Bibs in neoprene mostly because they are so easy to clean and dry but also very absorbent! I suggest at least getting the comfy style for those drooling teethers!
Around the 4-6 month mark, baby will usually start solids (aka mushy rice cereal), a nice ergonomic spoon is a must! My vote is split on this one between the Baby Human Play and Learn spoons and the Bambu baby fork and spoon set. Both are great and functional! Take your pick or get both, trust me you will use them!
Now that you have seen some of our fave baby items, get to work on your registry, or if you don’t want to register or don’t need to, get your shop on!
